MEDICAL DERMATOLOGY

Yearly skin exams are recommended to maintain healthy skin and to look for skin cancers and abnormal moles or "ugly duckings" especially in beach communities  like ours.  But did you know that your skin can also be a reflection of other internal health problems?   As the largest organ of the body, it can provide clues to whats ailing you.

Children with numerous moles,  family history of atypical nevi, or large birthmarks should also come in for yearly exams.

Dermatologists are generally known as doctors who treat itches and rashes, but did you know we are also are experts in problems of the skin, hair and nails?   This means that besides common conditions such as acne, rosacea,  warts, eczema, psoriasis, fungus, and skin cancer, we also treat infections such as herpes, allergic reactions like poison ivy, autoimmune conditions like cutaneous lupus, growths like keloids, and pigment problems of the skin, hair and nails.  We also treat disorders of the oral mucosa and groin.
